Grade 4 Social Studies Content Module, The History of the United States: Revolution to Reconstruction

This module provides information to help educators increase their knowledge of grade-appropriate social studies concepts, knowledge, and skills to support effective planning or modification of their existing social studies instructional units for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The module addresses (1) The War for Independence (1700s–1780s), (2) Creating a New Government (1781–1789), (3) Building the New Nation (1790–1830), (4) The Growth of the Republic (1800s–1850), (5) The United States Prior to the Civil War (1820s–1861), and (6) The Civil War and Reconstruction (1861–1870s).
